What's Not to Laugh?

Almost everything about aging–except grave illness and death–can be funny as well as disturbing. I try to find the funny and help us all get through it!

About

I take a humorous approach to life, particularly aging. That’s not to say I don’t have fears and worries. Many of them. But irreverence keeps them manageable.

Within the past several years, I became a cat owner…again. I had one cat in the 70s, a cat named Oliver that my daughter later dubbed, “the worst cat ever.” To be fair, she’s owned at least 6 cats, so I guess she knows whereof she speaks. Or something like that.

My blog from time to time becomes a cat blog, written by my cat, of course. Maybe I’ll spin that off into its own blog, with my cat’s permission. Whichever type of post you’re reading now, enjoy! And comment, please.

  1. Found your blog through Marc-André’s Purrsday Poetry, great poem! 🙂 Do you have a dedicated section of your blog just for poems or like me, do you post whatever pops in your head?~DM

    • Thanks for reading and enjoying it! I started out writing about the humorous side of aging (assuming there is one), but I end up writing whatever’s on my mind…only not often enough. I also write about my cat (and her dear departed predecessor) or in their voices. I get the most interest on those posts. I have long written verse for special occasions but never thought about writing them for the blog. Now I’ll consider that. I’ll surely check out your posts.

  2. Bonnie, your writing is wonderful…that was a short version as far as I’m concerned. And you didn’t mention that I was going to slow cook Beef Tenderloin
wrapped in Bacon, thin sliced…with warm walnut pesto and feta pasta salad, good
wines and my beautiful oasis 500 sq ft terrace with unobstructed views. I want the
world who reads your blog to realize what the “girls” gave up. If I recall, it still would have taken this much effort to get us together for our occasional poker
games in high school. xxxooo d

P>S> and we had a wonderful time in Old Orchard last night!

    • I had a wonderful time too. and thanks for the compliment. I also read what you wrote about Twink. It’s so odd that he kept love letters from you for so many years. A little creepy maybe.

I didn’t include your menu because I thought you were exaggerating to make us feel bad (in fun, of course). I actually got a comment by a stranger (also a blogger) who said “I think we have the same group of friends,” and then mentioned a Las Vegas trip they had to plan. Can you imagine?
